You view this from a top-down perspective, the player flies a fighter jet over the River of No Return in a raid behind enemy lines.

The player’s jet can only move left and right, it cannot move up and down the screen but it can accelerate and decelerate. The player’s jet will crash if it collides with the riverbank or an enemy craft, or if the jet runs out of fuel.

If you can keep your fuel replenished, and if the player evades damage, gameplay is essentially unlimited.

The player scores points as follows

enemy tankers (30 points)
helicopters (60 points)
fuel depots (80 points)
jets (100 points)
bridges (500 points).

The jet refuels when it flies over a fuel depot. A bridge marks the end of a game level.

About Reversi

There are sixty-four identical game pieces called disks (often spelled “discs”), which are light on one side and dark on the other.

Players take turns placing disks on the board with their assigned color facing up. During a play, any disks of the opponent’s color that are in a straight line and bounded by the disk just placed and another disk of the current player’s color are turned over to the current player’s color.

The objective of the game is to have the majority of disks turned to display one’s color when the last playable empty square is filled.

Neo geo pocket version

In single-player mode you make your way through Tournament Mode, competing against eight increasingly more difficult opponents. You can take an’Ability Level Test’ which is designed to grade you based on your standard of play. If you are just starting out you can try the ‘Reversi Lesson’ which provides ten short sessions to teach you the basics of the game.

There’s a ‘Free Play’ mode where you can see all the moves that are available. And then there is a two-player mode which is accessible via the link cable.

Athletic World was the first of ten games Bandai released for the Family Trainer series.

Athletic World simulates five different Olympic-style challenges — Hurdles, Hop A Log, Animal Trail, Rafting, and Dark Tunnel. Movements in the game are controlled by the player physically running, jumping, and stepping on the pad in a similar fashion to modern dance pad games. Each challenge is designed to train the player in a different manner. Hurdles tests the player on timing, while Dark Tunnel challenges the player’s dexterity. This game also offers the unique feature of having players’ game play experience tailored to them by asking for their Name, Age, Gender, and the current date to provide them with customized advice.
